I had to convert six thirty minute dvd-r’s someone shot with their Sony ‘Handycam’ into editable footage. After downloading various applications and various suicide attempts, I came across ‘Handbrake’ an open source video transcoder that is available on OSX, Linux, and ‘Windows’. It saved my rear so I guess they deserve a plug since the application is FREE and all. http://handbrake.fr/
